MUSIC CLASSES
CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT
Music ignites all areas of brain development in children - intellectual, social emotional, motor, language and literacy - plus it's been proven to boost creativity, confidence, mental health, and emotional stability in children.

ESTABLISHED CURRICULUM
Our curriculum was developed by internationally renowned Lynn Kleiner - it's a tried-and-true music program for littles + their parents. We'll surround your child with others their age, catchy tunes, and we promise it'll get you and your little moving and grooving before long!

ART CLASSES
Art allows your child to increase their hand-eye coordination, boost creativity and concentration, as well as learn to take risks in their projects. We've made our classes process-focused (not product-focused) meaning there is flexibility in the outcome - which we think helps take the pressure off of a child as they create, because they know the value is in using their imaginations. Our classes are tailored to your child's age group, allowing the tiniest among us to explore sensory experiences, while our not-so-little kids can confidently create with open invitations to materials and resources.

BIRTHDAY PARTIES
MOBILE WORKSHOPS + CLASSES
Looking for something fun to do at your little's party? A mobile art or music class might be just the thing to make the day extra memorable. Teacher Tess will come up with a lesson plan tailored to the ages of the attendees and can work with groups both big and small. Whether you have a budding artist or a eager young musician, our special 45 minute classes will entertain, engage, and allow your little to learn surrounded by their nearest + dearest.

STUDIO RENTAL FOR PRIVATE EVENTS
Wanting to host a beautiful event for your family, but don't have the indoor/outdoor space for it? Rent out our South Redlands studio and lawn space for a private event for up to 45+ people. A custom art or music lesson can be included for the group for an additional fee!

Nurtures the Heart and Mind
"Every week, my 3 year old granddaughter eagerly looks forward to her music class with Teacher Tess. The moment we step in, the space comes alive with joy, creativity, and wonder. Tess has a special gift with children - her classes are a delightful blend of movement, music, and imagination. She gets to drum, strum the ukelele, dance, and explore musical concepts like adagio, allegro, pitch, and rhythm. Tess also weaves in nature, seasons, and even classical music - like Beethoven's Sympthony No. 6 - making the learning rich and engaging. One of the children's favorite parts is when Tess brings out stuffed animals and character toys to introduce new sounds and stories, incorprating them seamlessly into the music. It sparks the kids' imaginations and helps them connect emotionally and joyfully with what they're learning. Beyond music, this class is a space where children learn to socialize, share, and build friendships. Tess creates a holistic, compassionate environment that's alive with energy from start to finish. It's more than a music class - it's a meaningful experience that nurtures the heart and mind."

Gem of a School
"When I found Midsommar Art and Music School, I not only found a unique and engaging weekly music program truly ideal for my two year old, I found a community of people who were so welcoming led by the example of the talented Teacher Tess! My son is always reserved when inbtroduced to new experiences, but this music class has quickly become his favorite thing to look forward to during the week. The class is thouhtfully curated. Each child gets their own instruments and becomes familiar with things like how to listen to certain instruments in a song or basic music vocabulary which is stellar at this age! They are completely engaged with the fun puppets and play animals that are creatively incorporated into each week's lesson. Teacher Tess is darling! She has the sweetest demeanor and gently guides students through the art of music in such a way that my 2 year old even appreciates what forte and allegro mean! This gem of a school will definitely be a place you and your little ones happily belong!"

Beautiful New Community of Friends
"Midsommar Art & Music school is exactly what our local community needed. The teachers are incredible and do an amazing job teaching our kids to explore, create, and grow in themselves. Everything about this school has been carefully crafted to provide a nurturing, accomodating, and welcoming environment to all children and their families. I personally also really enjoyed going with my daughter to connect with the other parents and build this beautiful new community of friends. Trust me, this will be a local favorite for sure."

An Incredible Gem
"I feel so lucky to have stumbled upon Midsommar School, an incredible gem in Redlands. It has provided an atmosphere that has been immensely enriching creatively, socially, and artistically for my almost five-year-old. Teacher Tess has put so much thought and care into the school, and it is evident in every detail. The studio and outdoor spaces are beautiful and inviting - welcoming both young and old to participate! My child has loved his weekly music classes, summer art camp, as well as his movement classes. His only complaint is that we don't go to Midsommar every day! The community of families and friends that we have made there is everything I had hoped to find. We can't wait to continue making beautiful memories together."

We Love Midsommar!
"The art and music classes at Midsommar have been such a gift to our family! Art camp was a core memory, not only for the kids, but also for us adults! Loved that the variety of art projects and sensory activities were themed and had sustainability in mind. The activities inspired me and I now see opportunities for art, play and learning everywhere in our home! Going through art camp actually made me a better caregiver to my daughter. The music classes introduce music in a play-based way with age-appropriate activities and songs, all intentionally chosen to highlight something different. The classes offered at Midsommar are great socializing opportunities for the little ones, and it's important for them to be surrounded by people that celebrate the process, not perfection. We love Midsommar!

Welcoming Environment for Kids of all Cultures and Languages
"My son and I have a nightly ritual: Que fue lo que más te gustó del dÃa de hoy (what was your favorite part of the day)? Without fail he answers: Mi clase de música con Teacher Tess. Midsommar has a welcoming environment for kids of all cultures and languages. The teachers make the kids feel special and seen. The music classes are fun and also educational. I'm so glad my sons get to be a part of a community where they belong and are getting exposed to the world of music!"

A Weekly Celebration of Sound, Connection + Joy
"We absolutely love this baby music class - it has been one of the highlights of our week! From the very first session, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and full of joy. Tess is not only incredibly talented musically but also has a gentle, engaging way with little ones that makes every child feel included and encouraged. The class is perfectly structured for babies: A wonderful mix of singing, movement, sensory play, and simple instruments. My baby lights up the moment we arrive and has started clapping, swaying to music, and even mimicking some of the songs at home - it's been amazing to see the development through music! What sets this class apart is the genuine lov eand passion that goes into every session. It's clear that a lot of thought has gone into making it fun, stimulating, and supportive for both babies and parents. Highly recommend this class to any parent looking to nurture their children's love of music and create beautiful bonding moments. It's more than just a class - it's a little weekly celebration of sound, connection, and joy."

The Heart and Soul of Midsommar
"We have been drawn to Midsommar from Day 1 of Art Camp. It's not just the beautiful curation of classes and projects (we love the offerings for the adults as well as the kids), the community created within the classes, or the peaceful setting it all happens in... Teacher Tess is the heart and soul of Midsommar and we love her energy and spirit dearly. She is patient, kind and the perfect teacher for our little one... she also has great style!"

Best Toddler Music Class in Redlands
"Our family loves Midsommar classes in Redlands! Our 4 year old and 2 year old do the music class and they can't wait to go all day! They even ask to go see "Teacher Tess" during the week when it's not Midsommar Day! They don't ask to go to their pre-school, but they do ask to go to music class! We appreciate the fact that Tess really understands kids aren't robots who listen to every direction and are expected to sit patiently and be completely obedient and docile. She's a great teacher and makes classes fun for the kids while introducing basic music concepts so they learn while having fun. Compared to other classes in the area (we've tried several), Midsommar School has a more welcoming at-home vibe to it. No judgement when your kid just woke up and doesn't feel up to participating fully or is cranky, Tess adapts and keeps the class humming along. So if you're looking for the best toddler music class in Redlands, I'd suggest Teacher Tess and Midsommar!

"The school has a peaceful and inviting atmosphere. The teachers positively engage with each student, and allow the children to express their creativity in their own way. They have various art projects that are unique and engaging. My child plays musical instruments, sings songs and participates in movement. My child looks forward to attending each week and has been duplicating the activities at home between classes!"

An Absolute Joy
"Taking art classes has been an absolute joy for my 4-year-old! Every class is the perfect blend of creativity, structure, and playtime! The teachers are amazing - they break down art concepts like value and space in a way that's fun and easy for little ones to grasp, all while keeping them fully engaged. The projects are so thoughtfully planned and perfect for kids of all ages. My son had a blast creating masterpieces in a peaceful, fun, and super inspiring environment! We can't wait for the next session!"

It's a treasure to have something like Midsommar in our local community."

Highlight of our Week
"My family and I love everything about Midsommar School! It is a fun and enjoyable class - it has easily become the highlight of our week since we started. It's amazing to see that to be a musician there is no age. Ms. Tess does an amazing job at teaching even the tiniest musicians and making all the kids feel special and confident. I have noticed that my daughter (even as small as she is) has gained a great appreciation for music and can really feel music which I credit to Midsommar School! I truly believe that learning about (and making!) music from such an early age can benefit little ones' development so much and I have witnessed it all in my daughter. There are so many amazing things I could say about Midsommar School... it is truly a gem and is not only amazing for children but definitely enjoyable for adults as well."

A Welcoming, Beautiful, Joyful, Loving, Kind and Inclusive Community
"My toddler and I have so much fun at Teacher Tess' classes. We started in the 0-2 class and have transitioned to the 2-4 year old class... the quality, attention, love and joy that Teacher Tess brings to each class is the same across them all. My daughter experiences pure joy and so do I as I watch how much she really enjoys the music class. The smile and excitement she has every time we go, really makes it one of the best parent-child bonding experiences we get to have on a weekly basis! Her love of music has only grown more with Teacher Tess' class, and she looks forward to going every week. My toddler always asks about Teacher Tess after we leave and if she could, she would go there every day. Midsommar has created a welcoming, beautiful, joyful, loving, kind and inclusive community for parents and their children. Truly a gem in the Redlands community that I am so grateful to be a part of. Thank you Teacher Tess for coming to each class with so much love, joy, fun, and play with our kids. We really love you and Midsommar School."

So Special
Art Camp for my 3.5 y/o son was the perfect week and we weren't ready for it to end. From the moment we walked around the corner to the open grass, my son was excited to be there. The open environment of allowing children to explore the materials and read stories on the blanket created a welcoming space. I laughed with Teacher Tess the art created this week wasn't going to get thrown away - legitimately I'm framing his printmaking! Teacher Emily was so approachable... it means a lot to me when my son is remembered by people he's learning from and simple things like remembering his favorite color made him feel special and cared for; it warmed my heart. Thank you for making this week so special for he and I.

Highly Recommend for Birthdays
"I had the privilege of having Ms. Tess lead a music class for my son's first birthday, and she was fantastic! She kept the kids engaged with a great variety of interactive songs using ribbons, instruments, puppets, scarves and a parachute. She even sprinkled in teaching moments, like recognizing tempo, teaching musical terms, and introducing composers. It was fun, lively, and perfect for little ones. She was punctual and easy to communicate withy. Highly recommend her for leading music classes out in the community!"
